|
Abbey Athletic Football Club was founded in 1992 and entered an under 10 team in the Peterborough Junior Alliance League in 1993. The following season, the club had teams in the under 10 and under 11 leagues. Since then, the club has grown year on year and we have teams in nearly every age group, from under 6 to under 15, competing in local tournaments, the Peterborough Junior Alliance League and the Peterborough Youth Leagues.
Abbey Athletic FC believe that at the heart of junior and youth football, is the element of enjoyment, and this is what our club strives to deliver. If the youngsters are not enjoying themselves during training, match days or during the social side, then we as a club have not delivered what we set out to achieve. Everyone likes to win, but at the end of the day if you have done your best and enjoyed yourself then you can hold your head high. In terms of being a part of Abbey Athletic FC, different youngsters will get differing benefits from being a part of the club. For some the social aspect is most important, for others training and improving their understanding of the game and for others the desire to compete on match day. The club encourages and will welcome all youngsters of all abilities and both sexes to come and join in.
Abbey Athletic FC achieved Charter Standard status in the 2006/2007 season and has adopted the Football Association’s, standard codes of conduct and policies.
In recent months, the club have been trying hard to develop their identity and to that end have chosen uniform club colours. So, if you look across a football pitch near you and see a team playing in the navy blue and red Macron kit, then there is every chance you are watching an Abbey Athletic team. |
